Hi All,

I am new to this board, but active in DIY. I just purchased DMAE to formulate a 3% cream, but I am confused. Some suppliers state that it takes more DMAE bitartrate (like 8%) to make a 3% DMAE cream. Others use the DMAE and DMAE bitartrate interchangably and say to add the bitartrate at 3%. Which is correct?

Thanks, I learn so much here on this board!

Not sure about DIY, but I have used a dmae concentrated lifting and firming serum in the past with very good results. The concentration of DMAE according to the label was 2.5% and that resulted in a fairly stinky fishy smell (since DMAE comes from fish). If you go for an even stronger 3% formula, I think it would be even more stinky...maybe to the point of going over the bearable line.

Just a note on the DMAE Creams... If it doesnt smell like fish it wont work. Thats from personal experience. No matter what they do to it it will smell like fish, unless they dilute it to the point where it is rendered innefective, or smother it with other scents until the fish smell is unrecognizeable, but the smell is stronger, worse, and irritates the skin more... Remember fish is a strong smell, so trying to cover it up with dainty flowers aint gonna work so well.

One recomendation is to try one with like 2% DMAE, and a small ammount of hylauronic Acid. Atleast I have had luck with that, the smell is not so bad, and the hylauronic acid makes up for the smaller ammount of DMAE. Great for wrinkles too.
