hypopigmentation in a mature scar

Hi,

I have a year-old, hypertrophic scar that is more pale (has less pigment) than the surrounding healthy tissue. I understand that there are some procedures (e.g., lasers) that might help correct hypopigmentation but that results are sometimes mixed. So I am wondering if anyone can tell me whether their own scars have naturally regained a little more of its pigmentation as the years pass. I'm willing to be patient, but I'm also just looking for an honest assessment of what to expect.
