Has anyone tried these? I read about Anna Friel in the Daily Mail having ipl laser treatment but it was about £170 for each treatment in the salon! I had a search on the internet and found these - beauty-lasers.com - which are a lot of money too but just a one off cost, so not too bad. Don't know whether to get one or not.
Would be grateful for any advice. |

The actual IPL at salons are good only for removing brown spots on the skin and sometimes redness. The 'results' for pore size and wrinkles are just imaginary due to the swelling after the procedure which lasts about two weeks. After the swelling goes down, the pores and wrinkles are visible again. Even if you get some minimal results from IPL for wrinkles, you will have to do IPL several times/year to maintain results.
The devices at beauty-lasers.com are basically flashlight with low powered laser diodes. They remove wrinkles and resolve skin problems as much as a flashlight will. In short don't waste your money on them. There is not a single paper convincingly proving that low powered diodes have any discernible effect on skin. |

I am disappointed by your advice, thought I had the answer there. What about Polaris and Fraxel treatments? Do they work, do you think? |

I have not had those myself but from the info I have, they are hit and miss. Some people are satisfied but say they will do another procedure shortly which means the results are not that remarkable. Other people are simply not satisfied. Outcome of lasers is not consistently good to warrant the astronomical prices they charge for. At the end you may get a results that is similar to a good facial peel or use of retinoids.
For skin texture and fine lines, retinoids are much more cost effective. Try Renova (Retin -A in a nice cream base, could be irritable to some skins) or the Avene lines Retrinal and Diroseal (usually not irritable retinaldehyde, may not be strong enough for lines but improves texture).
Do not expect the pores to shrink from retinoids or lasers or anything. but the overall skin texture will look good from retinoids. |
