I am to have surgery in a couple days. I would like to use silicone gel to help the scar heal.
Does specific silicone type in a scar gel matter in terms of results? Could I just use cheap dimethicone or a chafing gel instead of those marketed for scars (which are expensive)? For some reason, none of the sources I've seen have mentioned if silicone type matters. |

Dimethicone is similar but less polymerized form of siloxane used in silicone gels and sheets popular in scar treatment. In theory, it might work too but whether it actually does, I am not sure. |

Shea butter is compatible with dimethicone but I am not sure it can help to reduce scars in any way.

Thank you, Dr. Todorov. I LOVE your website. Have used it for about 12 years now. Your infopacks were great and got me started on DIY skincare.
P.S. I'll be starting Dermatix Ultra soon for my surgical scar. Got some at a great price on eBay. |
