hey, i have done a search but have found nothing regarding this topic..

the area around my groin region, waistline and arm pits are dirtier than the rest of the body... i have tried scrubbing and using many soaps, but none seem to remove any of it.. if there anything i can use to clean this?

Would be greatly appreciated as this is a very embarassing problem.. :(

Cheers in Advance..

Hi Brut

You could do a mix of sugar, honey and olice oil. Mix to a stiffish paste and massage into wet skin and then rinse off. this is a very gentle body scrub and if the dark areas ARE dirt it will come off.

That said, I think the Doc's right and it is not muck at all. It could be discolouration due to chaffing, especially if you live somewhere warm and perspire a bit (My OH has a similar discolouration due to this). This can cause the skin to become a bit dried out. Gentle exfoliation and thorough drying after washing should sort it out. I really don't think that being a soap dodger in your youth would have had any impact :D

what happened to the other posts in this thread?

So, with gentle exfoliation and drying, and moisturising i should be able to get rid of the discolouration?

Whether this works or not will depend on the cause of the discoloration - whether it is chaffing, hyperpigmentation, etc. For chaffing, that might work but for hyperpigmentation - not likely.

Hello,

I'm new here and I did not see the answer about what to do if the skin is actually dirty. I was homeless for a while and as a result I did not get to bathe as often and as I would have liked and as a result my skin is literally dirty. This is pretty embarrassing so any info as to special soaps and stuff would really be helpful. Thanks for your help.

Skin's surface is regularly renewing itself. So, if it just dirt, a regular washing with a soap and a scrub should eliminate all the dirt -- if not immediately, at least over a period of some days.
