CE Ferulic causing dry skin around T-Zone?

As you may know I recently made CE Ferulic and probably put a bit too much ferulic acid into it giving it a slightly white colour.

I have found that when I put a lot of CE Ferulic on - usually just because my skin isn't damp enough for it to spread well - that for the next few days I'll have dry, rough to the touch skin around my T zone.

Does this sound like something improperly formulated CE Ferulic could cause? Just wondering as I also felt it could've been an issue with the detergent I'm using on pillow slips.
