There is a chance I will be having an operation soon which involves two small 3mm incisions on my face. I'm naturally very concerned about long-term scarring as I don't want this at all.
The surgeon states that because the incisions are so small it should be invisible long-term.
What would you recommend I do to prevent scarring as much as possible? Both in terms of caring for the wound immediately post-op to the use of lasers after it's healed. I'd greatly appreciate you being able to provide me with such a plan. |

Such small incisions may indeed heal practically w/o scarring if performed correctly and there is no infection. Silicon sheet are often used to reduce/prevent scarring with good results. But consult with your doctor when it is safe to start applying anti-scar treatments. But once it's safe, sooner is better than later. |

I'll discuss this with the surgeon more when the time comes then post about it once more.
I thought silicon sheets were only useful for a specific type of scarring, not just any scar. I think I read keloid scarring or something? Is that not so? |

In my experience, silicon sheets were the most useful when applied early, before the keloid scar (or any scar) if fully matured. They are not as effective on older scars. |

I think you don't need to worry about it at all. You'll get rid of the same very soon after the operation. I mean you can get rid of the same by just following some home remedies like almond, lemon juice too. It will get banished, don't worry about it. |

How should I use lemon or olive oil to reduce scar visibility? And how long after the surgery can I try using it?
I am thinking about a c-section scar.. |
