Hello :)

I'm not sure if this is the right sub-forum to post this, but...

What do you think of silicones in skincare? I've heard people say it clogs pores etc. Dr Todorov, what's your opinion on this?

Specifically, how bad is it if a facial sunscreen has cyclopentasiloxane as the first ingredient :?:

I'm really looking foward to answers :)

I have not seen any research data indicating that cyclopentasiloxane can cause skin damage. On the other hand, I don't think its long-term use has been thoroughly studied, at least not in human clinical trials, so there's still some uncertainly -- as with so many skin care ingredients.

The most simple way is to try it yourself, at least there is no negative report about silicones.

I don't like having silicone in my skincare products. However, I might be biased since I prefer to use products that have only natural ingredients, or as close as possible, due to health issues.

I used Garnier primer, and it has silicone, like every primer does, and I like how my pores look like when I apply it.. My skin gets so much smoothier and the foundation I apply over it looks incredible..
