As I age I notice more and more flat white circular spots on my legs (mainly front of shins) and arms. I have been told by dermatologists that this is Idiopathic Guttate Hypomelanosis (IGH) and is a form of sun damage. My mother also had this condition, so there may be a hereditary factor. These spots do not tan with self tanner. I live in Florida and use a good sunblock, but it is difficult to wear shorts knowing that any additional sun exposure will make them worse. For events (parties, weddings, etc) where my legs are visible I use Dermablend to cover them, but this is messy and time consuming. Besides having a tattoo artist play "fill in the dots" is there a solution to correct or minimize the appearance of IGH? Anyone have any luck with topical treatments or lasers? Been to three dermatologists and they say there is not much that can be done. Paying for my sun worshipping teens and twenties now in my 50's!
