|

Hi everybody,
I need some help with my skin care regimen. I am 29 years old with dry skin. In the last two years I have noticed fine lines around my mouth, which I think are caused by the excessive dryness. About 2 years ago I went off birth control pills and since then have seen more pimples on my face. I have spent hundreds of dollars on Murad and Dermalogica products and haven't noticed much difference. I would just like to keep my skin hydrated and clear.
Also, do I need all of these steps for good skin: cleanser, toner, scrub, day moistuizer, night cream, eye cream, sunscreen? Purchasing all of these products gets really expensive. I would like a more minimalist approach to skin care. Thanks in advance!

You don't necessarily need all of this, especially being under 30. For example,
instead of cleanser, toner and scrub, you can use something simple, like table sugar scrub, i.e. use wet, but mostly undissolved table sugar as a scrub, then rinse with plain water. Unless you see problems around eye area, you could probably do without eye cream. You do need sunscreen unless you are never in the sun, and you need moisturizer. Some moisturizers come with anti-aging ingredients, so you may even skip night cream if money is tight.

Hiya
Best thing I can think of is using 2 products
1) Palmers Cocoa Butter on a morning to tone your skin and stop it been dry
2) Boots Intensive Green at night this just soothes skin from everyday wear and tear and smells really nice lol
Make sure you wash your face with warm water and pat it dry before you use it though |

Um excuse me but cocoa butter is HIGHLY comedogenic and she's prone to break outs! I suggest a cleansing creme (one you wipe off) (check ingredients! rather than a cleanser that most likely has Sodium Laurel or Laureth Sulphate. You can easily find a moisturizer containing sunscreen, try kiehl's they're reasonably priced and pretty decent. You don't need night cream either, unless you want to put something on your eyes at night, try 100% pure unrefined african shea butter (at night) It forms a breathable layer, highly moisturizing and even helps "cure" acne. You'll be shiny, til it penetrates that's why I suggest it at night or on your eyes. I'd still use a toner though, especially if you switch to a creme cleanser. one with no alcohol and no oil, Loreal has a good one called Nutri-Pure
so that's pretty minimalistic:
1. cleansing cream
2. Toner
3 sunscreen/moisturizer
4. Nightime shea butter |

Hi Ladystephy
After spending 4 years looking for a perfect routine and a minimal one as well (I am VERY lazy!) I would suggest cleaning your face with water and a flannel (microdermabrasion ones are good, but don't rub too hard!) or use something like jojoba oil if you wear a lot of makeup.
follow with a good vit C serum. You can make one yourself (But I have had real problems with this and don't bother now - sorry Dr T!), or buy one. dianayvonne.com has reasonably priced ones and pure skin formulations do a nice 20% as well. apply slowly to eye area as it can sting a bit if you aren't used to it.
Mix some emu oil and hyaluronic acid in your palms (dianayvonne again or just google it) and pat on as a moisturiser. You vary the proportions depending on how dry you feel.
In the PM clean as above and apply either neat emu or emu/ha mix. If you want to use another active like copper peptides or retinol, use it then, but introduce slowly.
a scrub or acid/enzyme mask once or twice a week is good too.
If your skin feels really bad, just try using the emu/HA for a week or two first.
I think there are a couple of spammers replied to your post BTW, so you may chose to ignore them
 |
