can you explain : " gluthathione is a tripeptide & its ionic charge would make it an unlikely candidate for substantial percutaneous absorption "

True, hydrophilic charged peptides don't penetrate well. Thay's why most of peptide-based products contained peptides modified with lipophilic group like palmitoyl. A small amount of glutathione probably still penetrates because small molecules penerate in small amounts even if charged. But that may not be enough to make a difference.
