I'm wondering if someone can give me some guidelines on AHA's/BHA's.
I have a couple questions.
1. What I want to know is what strength of acids are considered "daily wear"...ones you can probably safely use daily... even in combination with a once or twice a week abrasion method (like dermabrasion cloth)? So far from reading SkinBiology, they have a 2% Salicylic as a daily wear BHA.
So what strenght of each type of AHA/BHA could be considered "daily wear"?
2. What strength of each type of AHA/BHA can be used bi-weekly or weekly?
3. Also, at what strengths of AHA's/BHA's do you have to wear gloves and use applicator brushes... as well as a neutralizer?
4. I have read at SkinBiology that BHA's may have some nice advantages over AHA's (usually Glycolic). I know Glycolic is very popular, but wouldn't Salicylic be better and safer? I heard Salicylic can penetrate deeper?
I know there's alot to these questions, but if someone could take a reasonable shot at it, I would greatly appreciate it, and I'm sure others would find the information useful as well. |

The answers depend on your skin type. For my sensitive skin, 0% is daily wear including glycolic, salycilyc, mandelic acids. The answer also depends on the pH of the formulation, higher pH is less irritable but also less exfoliating. |
