Comparing antioxidants is tricky bacause there are many types of free radicals, some antioxidants may be effective agisnts a particular type, but not against other types. Without studies making a head-to-head comparision of overall skin benefits of idebenone to other antioxidants, it is impossible to say whether idebenone is really "superior" |

I bought a book called "Cosmeceuticals" edited by Zoe Draelos. On page 201, there is a table that compares Idebenone to 5 other antioxidants, using 5 different tests. Each test had a maximum possible score of 20. Idebenone's total score was 95. Then next highest score was Tocopheraol, which scored 80. Would this kind of information be useful in comparing antixoidants for topical use for the DIY group?
Thanks!

Not necessarily. There are too many other variables. Only clinical trials can provide direct evidence of benefits. |
