Which vitamin is best overall for skincare?

For example, if you had to choose a product based on retinol, or magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, which one would you pick?

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi,

From my experience and research I've done, vitamin C is the best for the skin. Vitamin A comes in a close second. You can place vitamin C in your skin (and diet) by eating fresh kiwis for breakfast ( don't eat anything else with it) and using some of it on your face and neck. Simple, natural, and cheap.

I don't know about retinol or magnesium... but retinol is the only topically applied commercial product that studies show benefit the skin. The rest are questionable.

I would choose a retinol product. I have been using the Skinceuticals 0.5 Retinol cream for a few months and I have noticed my overall skin looks better and more youthful.

My friend, there are many Vitamin related product is present in market. But The main problem is We live in a fast paced world with more to do than time allows. Stress causes aging on the outside, and the inside. Stress can cause high blood pressure and heart attacks, to mention a couple, and is a major contributor to what causes aging skin. Try to relax or walk away if you are upset; make quiet time for yourself. You may use vicodin to reduce your stress.

Ideally you need both Vitamins A & C, because each one can do something that the other can't do. There is no one vitamin or ingredient that will "do it all" when it comes to skincare. You would probably want to ad Vitamin E(the right form) to that combination (A-C-E together) because my understanding is that Vitamin E helps protect and recyle Vitamin A, and Vitamin C helps protect and recycle Vitamin E. So what is there that helps protect and recycle Vitamin C? I think the flavonoids in grape seed extract and Pycnogenol do that, and my understanding currently is that alpha-lipoic acid may do that too (not sure about that one though). So ideally for skin care, you would use A-C-E together combined with grapeseed extract or Pycnogenol, and ideally alpha lipoic acid too. And I would ad CoQ 10 also. What you could do is this: apply a Vitamin C serum to your skin, wait for 15-30 minutes. Then apply a grapeseed extract or Pycnogenol serum, wait for 15-30 minutes. Then finally apply a DIY cream that contains Vit A, Vit E, CoQ 10 and maybe alpha-lipoic acid.

Well I would like to know whether the Vitamins are the only substances that help us in grooving our skin? If so then should we take it for granted that all the skin care scosmetics that are available in the market are abundant in those said vitamins? I also heard that there was a lot of controversy lately as there were some substances found in cosmetics which were not at all suitable for health. So is it better to go for the natural vitamins or are the cosmetics safe enough for use? I am at present on the

Vitamins are not the only substances that help to keep your skin youthful, there are others as well to consider such as CoQ 10, lipoic acid, DMAE, green tea extract, grape seed extract, etc. Check out all the info that Dr. Todorov has here on the home page of this website.
