hi,
I am 30 and i badly need advice on my skin care/skin health maintenance.
I used to have acute acne problem in my teen age years. I still have breakout sometimes. I had used almost every single thing on m face to get rid of acne. My skin has lost the smoothness. I understand i cannot make up for the past. but is there any way i can take care of it from now on. imean so that my skin looks soft/fresh.
Also i have kinda black circle around my lip and chin. i think i have combination skin. can you please help me with these all?
and suggest me a good skin care product with the ways to use them properly.
thanks |

I recently got a sample from Paula's Choice 1% Beta Hydroxy Acid Lotion:
http://www.cosmeticscop.com/shop/product.asp?CODE=PC200&PAGETYPE=S
Contains: Water, Cetyl Alcohol (thickener/emollient), Butylene Glycol (water-binding agent), Salicylic Acid (1%) (beta hydroxy acid), Allantoin (soothing agent/anti-irritant), Bisabolol (soothing agent), PPG-14 Butyl Ether (thickener), PVM/MA Decadiene Crosspolymer (water-binding agent), PEG-40 Stearate (thickener), Sorbitan Stearate (thickener), Cyclomethicone (skin conditioning agent), Dimethiconol Fluoroalcohol Dilinoleic Acid (water-binding agent), Diazolidinyl Urea (preservative), Sodium Hydroxide (pH balancer), Polyacrylamide (water-binding agent), C13-14 Isoparaffin (thickener), Laureth-7 (thickener and water-binding agent), Propylene Glycol (water-binding agent), Dimethicone (skin conditioning agent), Methylparaben, Propylparaben (preservatives).
It contains 1 % Salicylic Acid which is a middle strength. The base gives soft matte look due to Polyacrylamide and C13-14 Isoparaffin. It must reduce frequency of breakouts and you should give a try if you are not overly sensitive to Salicylic Acid. I expect the lotion to be less irritable than usual producst due to the slow release polymer + paraffin base and the antiirritants (allantoin, bisabobol). The price is nice also. |

If your skin is sensitive, be careful not to use products
that have preservatives like paraben. No matter what,
be on the lookout for ingredients like SLS (sodium
laureth sulfate), which is a skin irritant for many people.
You should be very gentle with your skin, and do not
use any harsh cleansers that have astringents.
You may need to get professional advice, but in
general, most commercial products contain these
ingredients, and are irritating to sensitive skin.
All the best,
Robert Choi |

Hello. Your problem doesn't sound good. I don't think you will find the real solution on this forum. It's best to consult a specialist. I had a similar problem, and the doctor helped me. But if you really want to learn something about your disorder, you can search on the internet. You can start here: skindiseases.uv.ro
Keep us up to date

Hi there -
I must respectfully disagree with the previous post...you can get a TON of GREAT information on this forum. You've asked a very general question, so you may want to get a little more specific. You will find that there are many very knowledgeable people posting here (orangehrzn for example) - including many licensed estheticians and skin care clinicians. Not to mention the Dr. who certainly knows the ins and outs.
If you could please provide some detail on your issue, there are a few folks here who are sure to provide some great feedback. Maybe you could tell us...
What is your current skincare regimen?
What products (specifically) do you use?
How often do you use them?
What supplemental treatments (peels, masks, etc) are you using? What and how often?
Are you taking oral supplements for skincare? If so, what?
That will get us started...
To Martha - I think you would do well to browse a little and then reconsider your position on the advice available from many on this forum... |

You're so kind and considerate George, not only now, but in everything you're posting. Willing to help and advise people you don't even know and who are sometimes putting stupid questions (including me ;-)) and without giving them the feeling it's a dumb thing to ask.
And you are not the only one on this forum, you already mentioned some of them, it is really fantastic that there are so many people here who are prepared to help us with our burning questions, without getting anything in return.
That's why I'd like to emphasize this right now and say "thank you" to all of you, and I'm sure I speak for all of us laymen ;-)
(please forgive me my poor English, I am not a native English speaker, and no, I am nót fishing for a compliment ;-)) |
