Dear Dr. Todorov,

According to this article, grape seed extract has a pro-oxidant effect in wound sites which is beneficial to the wound. In the 13th paragraph it says: "At low concentrations, free radicals can stimulate the proliferation of cells as well as the formation of connective tissue and new blood vessels, he added. ôSkin wounds are rich in free radicals. There was a longer-lasting free radical effect in the wounds that had been treated with grape-seed extract. We think that's partly why these wounds healed faster and better."

If this is the case that free radicals are beneficial to wounds then wouldn't applying an antioxidant rich formula with Vit C, E, R-Lipoic Acid etc. which have a more antioxidant effect in wound sites then be harmful to the wound site by not allowing the free radicals to heal the skin as efficiently?

The article: nutraingredients.com/news/ng.asp?id=36868-grape-seed-extract

Many Thanks

It is hard to make conclusions w/o the actual study data, but the wound enviroment is very different from normal skin and even if green tea increases free radicals levels, it might do it indirectly and only in a wound environment.

On the other hand, there is significantly more evidence that green tea provides some antioxidant and other protection to normal skin, especially from such things as UV-induced damage. See
