Hello, I'm new to the forum and wanted say hi :) I've used this site for a while but just found out that it had a forum. Anyways I was curious if you guys and girls would mind rating my daily regiment?
I'm male, 21 years of age, with combination skin (oily t-zone, dry elsewhere)
Daily:
1. Dermalogica Special Cleanser 2-3x daily where needed
2. Dermalogica Active Moisturizer (morning and evening) where needed
3. Dermalogica Power Firm under eyes and laugh lines 2x daily
4. Retin-A at night
5. Sometimes after applying Retin-A, I'll wait 30mins till it dries and apply Dermalogica Skin Smoothener over it
Weekly:
1. Dermalogica Power Recovery Mask
2. Dermalogica Clay Mask
3. Sometimes I'll use pure clay mask, even though its very strong
4. After clay masks I put on a thick layer of Dermalogica Skin Smoothener on for an hour or two as a moisturizer mask
What do you think? I've also been thinking about using a exfoliating scrub, however I've heard these spread acne bacteria? So long as I use Retin-A I don't have acne so I assum it'd be OK to use one of these? |

1. The current view in dermatology is that skin aging is caused by UV rays so you should use sunscreen especially if you use retin A.
2. I wouldn't apply anything on top of retin A cause that may cause unwanted interactions and possibly neutralization of retin. If retin makes your skin flake, you should apply lower percentage and less often.
3. The masks probably don't do anything. Even if they did, application once per week for sure doesn't do anything. It's like eating once per week and expecting not to feel hungry lol
4. I think Dermalogica producst are kind of expensive. It's all about the label and the image, not that they do anything significant except emptying your pocket. If I was you I would think of simplifying the regimen like:
cleanser that doesn't cause flakes,
mosturizer that heals the skin when it flakes or is irritated,
retin A (appropriate strength and frequency of application),
sunscreen. |
