|
|
I just ran out of my sunblock and went out and bought an all natural Aubrey sunblock..but apparently that leaves a white cast on your face.
So I need to get one soon, but don't want one that leaves a white cast.
I have brown skin...so that's a huge problem.
I see posts about Micronized Zinc oxide which are supposed to be really effective as a sunblock, and don't leave a white cast.
Where can I find one of these? And please refer a sunblock that doesn't have any chemicals really harmful to the skin. |

Micronized Zinc still leaves slight white cast which on my white skin is welcome cause it masks skin irregularities whithout people being able to tell you are wearing something.
For a dark skin a better choice with be micronized zinc TINTED to your natural skin color. I've never used those so can't recommend specific brands.
Micronized sunblocks are still not widely available at department stores like CVS or Walgreens but can be found on sites like
dermstore.com
drugstore.com
skincarerx.com
skinstore.com
Another problem you will encounter with sunblocks is that most of them are shiny or if they are not shiny, they are astronomically expensive. |

Also, if you are using a high quality organic sunblock you only have to use a very small amount. If you use the same quantity as with regular sunscreen you will get that white residue on your skin. I've had great success with Phyt's Cosmetics from France. They are certified organic and a google search will find you a store where you can buy it. I use the SFP40 and love it. |

Thank you very much. I will look into those stores and see if I can find anything. |

How much do you pay for yours?
I was using Aubrey's Natural Sun Green tea Spf 25 sunblock. |

I have two for you to look for. At the drugstore (& drugstore.com) is Coppertone Ultra Sheer Faces spf30. This is the one in the turquoise bottle, not the Oil Free in tan tube which doesn't have as good opinion ratings on the web (so I've only tried the 'good' one) You should probably ignore all of the hype 'antioxidant' ingredients, but it's not white, gritty, or greasy, and a good price.
But if you want the best, in my opinion, it's Obagi Healthy Skin Protection spf35. It has colorless zinc oxide, and as mentioned elsewhere, you don't need to gob it on, so it doesn't give a white cast. You can, but don't have to get it from an MD, (Amazon & drugstore.com have it) although it does cost more. I have to say it worked so well last summer that I didn't get my usual dark patches (melasma?) And I don't have to worry about whether hydroquinone is safe anymore, I don't need it. More importantly, I guess, I have fair skin and come from two generations of skin cancer, yet I love the outdoors, so this is great for me to have something I actually use.
Of course I'm preaching to the choir if you're already looking for a good sunscreen, but this one really is going to give you the anti-aging results, if it can block the sun as well as it did for me.
I think I'll go post this on the product review boards for anyone else who's looking. |

There is a broduct called: Cell Block-C
It is a Vitamin C enriched SPF Cream!
Comes in a tub and it doesn't take much of the product. It doesn't leave a residue.
I forgot I had it on when I went to the Dermatoligist and (they were checking for sun damage on my entire body as I had a melanoma spot on my shoulder some years ago...) when she finished checking me out... she sat me down and said " the good news is your sunblock is working the bad news is it is working too well, I can get a good look at your face because it is blocking out all the uv light!!!"
