Skincare for men?

Hi, I'm a 27yr old male with great skin, and I'd like to keep it that way.

I've never really used a moisturizer, but I think I'm going to start right now just so I can get a good lead.

Can anyone recommend me a good moisturizer for men? Is there any real difference between skincare products for males and females?

What ingredients should I look for?

I don't think there's any significant difference between skincare for men and skincare for women. The companies just use different marketing strategies to target different segments of the market (e.g.-women as opposed to men) for business purposes. As far as the actual ingredients they use goes (products marketed for men vs. products marketed for women) the ingredients basically remain the same overall. There is one exception to that though: some women us estrogen skin creams on their face, reportedly with good results, but based upon what I currently know, it may not be advisable for a man to do that, because you might get some undesirable(for a man) "female side effects." Then of course, there's shaving cream for the face, which women don't use. Other than that, Vitamin C is Vitamin C, and glycolic acid is glycolic acid, whether you're male or female. There is no "male version" of Vitamin C for example.

My husband is 32 and wanted to start using skin care products. He uses Jack Black's Double Duty moisturizer, which is a moisturizer made just for men and it has SPF 20 in it for sun protection. I've been looking around for skin care information for men online and found some articles on yourskin101.com that are pretty good too, if you're interested in more than just moisturizers for your face. I would suggest to get started with a certified organic skin care regimen. You mention that your skin is beautiful. Keep it that way. Look into the Gaia Made for Men skin care line.

I used to think that there is no basic difference between the skin nature of male and female. But I was wrong. Male has a comparatively tough skin than female. So naturally their skin products should be of different type. I used to apply moisturizers those are mainly for female and naturally didn’t get desired result. After seeing one of my friends using Fair and Handsome I’ve started using it and I’m quite happy with that. I found this cream has a good moisturizing effect.

Basically there is no difference between male and female skin "care", which is not to say that there is no difference between male and female skin. It is often said that men have thicker skin than women, but even if that's true, that alone would have no effect on the skin care regimen that you use. There are some exceptions though: men often shave their faces, so they may have to exfoliate less often than a woman does, but the actual exfoliating ingredients and procedures they use would be the same. There is no "male version" of glycolic acid, for example. And then remember no man shaves his entire face, only certain parts, so what about those parts of your skin that never go under the blade? Another exception is that men may not want to use estrogen creams on their skin (as women would) because I 've read that they can cause some undesirable "feminine" side effects. But basically if you look at the ingredients in any line of mens' skincare products, you'll find the same ingredients as those found in other skincare lines (those commonly sold to women). So basically there is no difference between male and female skincare, even if the male has somwhat thicker skin. The companies that produce men skincare lines do that as a marketing strategy to get more men to buy their products, but they use the same ingredients as in their other products. The only difference is in the marketing strategies they use. Is there a "male version" of Vitamin C, or Retin-A, or copper peptides, or hyaluronic acid, or a facial cleanser? Of course not. It's all the same, regardless of gender. I've checked out several of the mens' skincare lines, and they aren't necessarily the best products for men, even though they may "seem" more attractive to men because of the way they are marketed.

To elucidate further, let's suppose you're a male with oily skin. So you find a men's skincare line (erroneously believing that's the best choice for you), then you use their moisturizer; but it turns out to be a moisturizer for people with dry skin. Then you made the wrong choice, even though you're a male and you bought a product marketed for men.

My husband normally chooses skin care products for women. It's a lot milder then those with men.

you could try queer eye for the straight guy, I know they talk about that on their show

good luck , if not go to the perfume dept. of a mall & ask them for some tips
