|
|
Started using Solar Protective Moisturizer 30. It has two sunblock ingredients: Rhatany Extract and Micronized Sinc Oxide.
Company told me that the ZnO is coated and is 10 nm in size.
Because the ZnO is so small, is it safe to use? I have been reading about ZnO, that nanoized particles can cause free radicals in the body. Coated ZnO is not supposed to do this, but I worry about skin creasing and irritations in the skin.
Does anyone know if this product is safe to use? Am I worrying too much?
What other products would you suggest, if not this one? I try to stay away from parabens and estrogenic substances. |

10 nm could be small enough to penetrate into bloodstream. Zinc particles are far less likely to induce free radicals than say iron or copper, but nobody really known what long-term low-level effects topical nanoparticles may have. This needs to be properly studied. |
