Is it okay if I mix zinc oxide powder in my lotion to get an effective sunblock. I use Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion (which is a great lotion). Also, would I have to preserve it in the refrigerator or something? What SPF would I get? :? :? :? |

It's ok but you will run into a host of problems:
It will be gritty unless you have homogenizing equipment. It will be whitish unless you tint it. It is possible that 10% ZnO alters the properties of the base making it drier and harder to spread.
For estimate of SPF based on ZnO concentration see the table in makingcosmetics.com > Resources > About Sunscreens |
