I know glycerin is supposed to be a great humectint, but I can't stand the heavy, greasy/sticky film it leaves on my skin. Maybe it's better for people with drier skin, but I just can't take the "ick" factor! LOL!

Glycerin is tolerable only in emulsions. Pure glycerin is really unbearable on skin as you noticed.

yeah, I wasn't talking about neet on the skin. even as low as 3% in an emulsion. I know it's tolerable to almost everyone even in much higher concentration, and it is a very good humectant.

Maybe my question was more about humectants in general. They sure make your skin look great while they are doing their humecting thing. Plumping up all the wrinkles and creases etc. But some theorize that constantly bringing water to the top of the skin is not healthy and can produce adverse affects for long term skin care.

Also was wondering because glycerin is a sugar alcohol and I don't know what the sugar content is, but I wonder if it's good having high sugars on your skin for long periods of time?

I like it for the moisture binding properties of my dry skin.
