Dr. Todorov,

I've made a HA/DMAE serum. I started with HA and water into a nice thick gel, after that I added a DMAE-solution, which made the mix rather thin again. I allready knew this is a property of DMAE.

However, does that mean that the hydrating capabilities of the HA have been decreased? Should I use a higher concentration of HA in order to compensate for this?

Kind regards,
Jouke

Higher ionic strength introduced by DMAE reduces the ability of HA to hold water (as it disrupts hydrogen bonds), so it does impact its humectant properties. How significant an impact as far as actual skin moisturizing goes is hard to say without actually testing this in the lab.
