Hello All,
I am new here and have joined in the hope that someone maybe able to help with a rather distressing skin problem I have. I suffer from syringoma around my eyes :( . In case you don’t know syringoma is the little bumps some people get on the skin around there eyes. I am nearly 30 now and the problem has been getting worse over time. I had heard that a TCA peel might help but after recently doing one it seems to have revealed more!
I have seen my Doctor about it here in the UK about it but was told it was a cosmetic issue. Has anyone here had any success in treating syringoma permanently? Any advice would be great as it is really starting to get me down and damage my confidence.
Many thanks,

I did some research on syringomas and found this out:
"Syringomas are harmless sweat duct tumors, typically found clustered on eyelids, although they may also be found in the armpits, umbilicus, or vulva. They are skin-colored or yellowish firm rounded bumps, 1-3 mm in diameter, and are often confused with xanthelasma.
They may be removed with erbium or carbon dioxide lasers."
Then I checked out what is xanthelasma:
"Xanthelasma (or xanthelasma palpebrarum) is a sharply demarcated yellowish collection of cholesterol underneath the skin, usually on or around the eyelids. Although not harmful or painful, these minor growths may be disfiguring and can be removed. The plural is "xanthelasmata". They are common in people of Asian extraction and those from the Mediterranean region. Xanthelasmata can be removed with trichloroacetic acid peel, surgery, lasers or cryotherapy. Removal can cause scarring and pigment changes, but it is unusual after treatment with trichloroacetic acid. Because of the hereditary component, they may or may not indicate high blood levels of cholesterol. Where there is no family history of xanthelasmata they usually indicate high cholesterol and may correlate with a risk of atheromatous disease (cholesterol building up in arteries). The root of the word is from Greek xanthos, ξανθος, "yellow"."
I think I have one of these problems because I have some whitish little bumps on my lower eyelids, but I'm not sure how I got them. I'm a 25 year old male, and I have been told not to put too rich eye creams around my eyes I'm not sure whether I have these problems, or whether I have something people call "millia."
Anyway, you can look up xanthelasma or syringomas on wikipedia.com and there are pictures provided to see which you have. I hope this information on how to treat them helps you. Now I just need to know myself what I have! lol |

Hello,
Thanks for your reply, I know I have syringoma has it has been confirmed by a dermatologist but they wouldn't help me with them because the problem was only cosmetic.
I think I have had some of these bumps for about 12 years at least, I initally thought they were milla but when a beauty therapist tried to extract them nothing came out. If your issue is milla then just about any decent facialist should be able to remove them for you.
I think my only hope is to try and find a private derm in the uk who can do one of the procedures you mention.
Good luck,

Hi Pandora and anyone with syringoma experience,
I also think I have Syringoma. I have them under my eyes and on my cheeks. But one strange thing is they seem to become more or less pronounced at different times. Lack of sleep, pms, and stress seems to sometimes make them more pronounced. Is this your experience also????
Thanks...
