Hello out there, I have a bit of a problem that I hope you all can help me with.
My mom, who has zero Internet skills and know how, asked if I could help her out and find some quality information on skin care and anti aging. I said I would do it; only problem is I have no idea what constitutes quality information? I am a rookie to all of this skin care stuff, and have been drowning in information for the past few days trying to make sense of it all.
My printer and mouse finger have been working overtime trying to come up with the most relevant information. Who knew there was so much of it out there!
As savvy skin care and anti aging skin care consumers and researchers, I am asking you where exactly should I start? When you research all of this stuff, what questions do you ask, and where do you find the answers? Where do I go to find the best most relevant info? Have any of you had skin care questions you could not answer, and if so, what online or offline resource did you use to answer your questions?
What started out as a simple request has turned into a massive search for the best info. I am hoping to streamline my search, and any assistance I could get to find the best info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help,
Have a nice day,
Sincerely,
New To Skin Care, The Un Educated Skin Care Rookie!!! |

The most quality info on skin care is contained in medical journals, peer reviewed. The articles on this site contain good summaries of that info. Keep in mind that just because something is in a medical article doesn't make it necessarily true - I've seen many such articles with clearly wrong methodology.
For consumer reviews on a cosmetics product, I use this site and makeupalley.com. Other sites are either too commersial and obviously doctor the reviews or the reviewers are too inexperienced to provide objective information. |

as an alternative to studying for a dermatology PhD, you could try posting on some of the forums like this one and others. It helps if you know what kind of skin your mum has and what issues she wants to address.
Whilst there are only a few 'proven' actives out there, there are a whole load which have cosmetic (ie make you look good when wearing them but do nowt long term) effects. |

I'm not sure if you saw this information in your search but I think it's pretty good.
It's all about the basics and I don't think one can argue with the basics in terms of quality.
Have your mom start simple.
You can find the report here: ccnm.edu/files/pdfs/resources_links/Anti-Aging.pdf
Good luck. |
