hello. Mu name is Mike mills. I. i searched online for this information and i couldnt find on my own.
I have a few questions about comparing different topical acids.short answers is good for me. i appreciaite it very much.

1. about mandelic acid, from what i read it is phenyl glycolic acid. thus would that make it both (lipophillic) oil and
(hydrophillic) water soluble?
is it mostly water or oil soluble or about 50/50?

2. does mandelic have any water binding properties like all other aha's? and does it increase gag's like the other aha's?

3. 1-2% salicylic acid, increases, cell renewal like aha's if i am correct.
8% aha's also stimulalte gag's, collagen and elastin?
does1-2% salicylic acid do that too?

4. since mandelic and salicylic acid both have lipophillic properties due to phenol.
which one is more antibacterial against p.acnes bacteria?
which acid is less drying from dissovling oil and why?

There's very little peer-reviewed research on mandelic acid in skin care, if any.

Here's link to a non-peer reviewed study with some info, but it is from a manufacturer so conclusions may be biased

dr. t.thank you. i guess research needs to be done in this type of aha.

aha's and SA stimulate epidermal turnover from exfoliation

aha's around 4 % free acid also, stimulate gag's, collagen, elastin

does SA in the 1-2% range also stimulate gag's, collagen and elastin?

second, does SA kill p.acnes bacteria with its anti-microbial activity, beacsue soem wbsites say yes and otherssay no.
thank you
