|
|
Hello, I am a 27 year old male with an unusual circulatory, hand-related problem. When my hands are hanging down at my side, the blood pools in them and they turn extremely red. When I raise my hands above heart-level, the blood drains back down and they return to a more normal pale color. I am quite fair-skinned, and my doctor has suggested this redness problem is due to a combination of my skin being somewhat translucent, and my veins/blood vessels being very close to the surface.
I’ve lived with this condition for over 10 years now, and it is quite embarrassing for me. I’ve been looking for potential solutions and recently came across a cosmetic procedure that involves injecting Radiesse into the hands. I realize Radiesse hand injections are typically used as a volumizing filler for older people to mask bulging veins and signs of aging, but could it work in my case as well? Could it add a “layer” between the skin of my hands and the veins that could help mask the redness? For those of you who have experience with dermal fillers (or just have a general knowledge about them), I would appreciate any thoughts on whether or not this could work, and am also open to other suggestions – cosmetic or otherwise – on how to reduce my hand redness (aside from walking around with my arms up in the air all day!). |

Veins generally don't causes redness. Capillaries and arterioles do. |

Thanks for your response.
Regardless of what causes the redness, is it possible that a dermal filler could help mask this phenomenon or no? I realize it's probably far-fetched, but I figured if it's true what my doctor said about my skin being practically translucent and my blood vessels being close to the surface, perhaps the filler could provide a buffer between the blood showing through the surface of the skin.
I don't have a very good understanding of how dermal fillers work, so maybe I'm just grasping at straws here... but at this point I'm willing to consider any type of cosmetic solution. |

If, as it sounds, redness is caused by dilated capillaries (e.g. like in vascular rosacea, for example), then filler would seem unlikely to help. |

I see - thank you for the clarification. Do you know of any other treatment or procedure I could pursue to help with this problem? |

Yes, I do. I have poor circulation in general and both my hands and feet are often cold. Even when they're cold, both my hands and feet are more of a purple color. When they're warm, they get very red.
Warm or cold though, the blood seems to pool in my extremities when they're not elevated. |
