For the past month and a bit I've had a constant reddiness / rash-like thing going on on my neck. It's not super noticeable, however with my shirt off the contrast becomes far more apparent.

The skin also feels quite dry.

I stopped using all products on it but it seems persistent in some ways. For example today I was staying at home so I applied no sunscreen or anything. Just moisturiser to that area. Then tonight taking my shirt off befort a shower all around the lower part of my neck was very red. Yet I can't think of what could've set that off.

Another thing is too that even the back of my neck shares similar symptoms of discoloration, and definitely no product such as CE Ferulic or Tazorac is touching there.

So essentially I'm left wondering if I'm having some kind of allergic reaction to the detergent being used to wash my pillows and clothing? It's particularly noteworthy that I sleep on a rolled up towel which acts as a cervical neck roll. Meaning only my neck comes into contact with fabric during sleep as I'm almost always on my back.

Dr T I know this is getting a bit off topic as far as this forum is concerned and I'll probably book into see a derm about it soon. The problem is wait times here to see one are often 3-4 weeks plus.

So do you know if it could be a reaction to the detergents? And what would you recommendations be to me for the time being? Anything I can use that's gentler? Ways to calm it down?

It might conceivably be a reaction to either the towel you use (material it's made of) or the detergent you use to wash it. But there are many other possibilities, so you should definitely see a dermatologist.

I wondered if it was possible the CE Ferulic being too acidic.

Anyway, how easy is it for a dermatologist to determine what the cause of a reaction is?

Yes, for some people, C-based serums are too acidic. If you are applying it to your neck plus some extra irritation of "rubbing it in" with the towel as you sleep -- and you might develop irritation.

But I though you said you didn't apply C-serum or Tazorac in the area where you have the rash.
