Try Retin A and glycolic acid peels... they'll be gone in no time!

I have a problem with using retin-A and AHA at the same time. It causes my skin to peel, itchy, and burned.

I went for a facial and the esthetican removed the blackheads for me. The bumps were gone after and my pores were a lot smaller after without the congestion. Retin A and glycolic peels thins out your skin causing sensitivity and the sun can cause more damage if you dont wear sun protection.

Use a special Microdermabrasion cloth to clean your face:
Step1
Wash your face with water and a mild soap. Employ gentle motions to clean your skin. Use enough water to wash away the remaining dirt, oils and soapy film from your face.
Step2
Pat your face with a clean towel until it is dry. Slightly dampen the microdermabrasion cloth with warm water. Wring out any excess water. Rub the microdermabrasion cloth against itself, apply a cleanser or lather the cloth with a mild soap.
Step3
Rub your face gently with the cloth. Employ small, circular motions in concentrated spots, and then continue to other areas. Start with the nose and move outward. Use the cloth's microfibers to gently exfoliate and slough away dead skin cells, makeup residue, dirt, oil and other unwanted agents from your skin. Keep the microdermabrasion cloth away from the delicate eye area.
Step4
Clean the microdermabrasion cloth with an anti-bacterial soap. Hang it up so that it can dry. Do not apply any astringents that contain alcohol to your face after a microdermabrasion cloth session. Use the cloth once a week.

Try getting a rag/cloth that is about the size of your face, and then put it in water that is as hot as you can stand it.
Then put it on your face and keep it there until it starts to cool,
that helps your by opening your poors, after that get a cleanser or a toner and apply that to your face, dont be affraid to use as many cottonballs as you want. (so then you're not rubbing the oils from your skin all around your face)

That or proactive.

Make a lotion with equal parts of lime juice, almond oil and glycerin and apply on the face. It will not only cure blackheads but the discoloring spots on the face too.

It is best not use both Retin-A and AHAs, glycolic acid, BHAs at the same time because they can cause irritation.

Once your skin is fully acclimated to the Retin-A, then you can add in acids, slowly, to your routine, if you need them.

organicsoapgal,

When you tried the retinol:

1) Did you let your skin dry completely before applying it? Even though retinol is weaker in strength than Rx retinoids, applying to wet/damp skin, may cause irritation.

2) Did you use a small amount? Using an amount, similar to a standard moisturizer, can cause irritation. More is not always better with retinoids.

3) What strength was it?

4) What was your frequency of application? Using it every day, when starting out, may be too much. You have to acclimate your skin to retinoids, even over-the-counter retinol.

As for other things that work for skin congestion: AHAs, glycolic acid, and BHA, are used. BHA tends to be the most popular of the three. Because it is lipid soluble, it is able to go into pores and break up the sebum plug; it is also the more "gentler" acid for regular/daily use. AHAs and glycolic acid are stronger and may need acclimation to them before using them regularly.

The best way to get rid of blackheads is the same way you get rid of acne:

*Wash with warm (not hot) water. (Do not use cold water as this will just clog pores)
*Use a acne cleanser
*Use a mild exfoliant, like glycolic products or even retinoids
*Use a toner

This should do wonders for your skin if you do it on a daily basis.

I use egg white and honey mixture and apply it onto face. It helps get rid of impurities and blackheads.
