I came across this article which mentions a DNA sciences company that markets this supplement called AC-11, which is a patented extract of Uncaria tomentosa(cats claw) from the vine, standardized to 8% carboxy alkyl esters. It is designed to manage the effects of aging and cell damage by supporting the body's natural ability to repair and maintain its DNA. Is it possible for an herbal extract to help the body repair DNA?

In theory, it is posible that a chemical, whether plant-derived or not, can increase production of DNA repair enzymes. However, the published research on Cat's claw extracts & DNA repair is very skimpy and seems to come from one source.

Interestingly, they used hydrogen peroxide as damaging agent. Their extract may have simply acted as antioxidant neutralizing hydrogen peroxide, so that less damage occurred rather than more damage was repaired. They could have conceivably obtained same results with, say, grape seed antioxidants or even Q10.
