I was on Differin Gel for a six month period on the recommendation of my dermatologist. I've had acne since the age of 13 and am now 24. I've tried everything under the sun: OTC benzoyl peroxide, salysilic acid, Apricot scrubs, Nature's Cure, Proactiv, Progressive, etc. without ANY effect at all. In fct, all the time it's getting worse... since I have more dark patches than ever.

I was using alongside the Differin, Clindets wipes and Doryx.

I must say the whole routine did not grant any results. My face is very oily and acne-prone, and though the Differin managed to dry out the skin, it did not help to get rid of the acne nor did it clear any of the darker patches. My skin was oily an hour or so later.

It's embarrasing, being a guy at least, to resort to buying a jar of acne makeup and dab it on to lessen the appearance of the dark patches and redness. I long for the day I can actually go without it (and also longing for the childhood days when my skin was actually clear).

I'm thinking of buying a home microdermabrasion kit. I've read the few mixed reviews here, and am thinking of giving it a try.
