Skin Care Review: Murad Acne Complex

by Cristina

Rating
No effect

Benefits
Fewer large, painful blemishes

Drawbacks
Increased amount of small, under-skin blemishes - exacerbated uneven skin texture

Details
I'm a 19-year-old female with a half-Cuban, half-French background and tan complexion. Since I was about 12, my skin has been oily and blemish-prone; I can't remember a time when my face has been 100% clear. I thought I'd grow out of my acne, but found that it was worsening with age. I tried the Murad Acne Complex 3/4 step system in hopes of regulating my breakouts. At first, it seemed as though my skin would improve - however, I found that the kind of blemishes I typically got (usually large, individual inflammations) were merely 'replaced' by an altogether different kind of ailment. I'd never had blackheads, but after starting Murad, almost every pore around my nose and mouth was clogged. They spread to my cheeks, and my skin texture became out-of-whack. Even since I've discontinued the Murad system, I can still notice small bumps covering the sides of my face (and they're especially noticeable in the sunlight). It's hard to resist extracting the stubborn plugs, but there are so many that I KNOW I'd scar or turn out blotchy. I've since gone to medical spa to get a detox/anti-bacterial facial, and recently began using some Environ B-active products for problem skin (namely, the Sebuwash and Sebutone). If anyone has used the B-active range, I'd appreciate any input as to which products proved most effective.

Conclusions
Waste of money, time - a sure downer
