I have cystic acne which began in my early 20s. I have fought with it for ten years. The only thing that has truly worked for me is anti-biotics, although I have not tried everything. I get HUGE cystic zits on my chin usually, but hte rest of my skin is generally clear. I tried ProActiv after seeing their infomercials and celebrity endorsements. It seemed pretty ideal; however, it did not work AT ALL for me. The face wash/scrub was ineffective in properly cleansing my face and the acne gel was just benzoyl which you can buy in any drug store. From years of big zits, I have pretty much made my skin immune to benzoyl where it now just makes it worse than does anything to help. So, in a nutshell, I did not find much benefit to ProActiv; though it did make my skin look more evenly toned (the parts that were not zitty).
