I've had the worst case of cystic acne on my chest for about 10 years. There are painless small/medium hard nodules beneath the skin on my chest that never go away. Every 4-12 weeks one or them becomes inflamed & infected. Over the next week or so it usually comes to a VERY painful head & leaves an ugly scar. I showed this to a dermatologist & she prescribed 'Cefuroxime Axetil' as well as an antibacterial lotion. She said if they didn't eliminate my acne that she'd have to do a biopsy (...HECK NO!!!) I used both twice a day for three months & although they did prevent any further outbreaks & even seemed to 'heal' a few nodules (eg. 6/50), it left very dark blemishes in the aftermath.

Now I'm on a SUPER-LONG waiting list to see a hot shot dermatologist in November...

Conclusions
not a permanent solution to acne.
