I have taken two courses of Accutane, the first as a 21/22 year-old and the second as a 25/26 year-old. I had excellent treatment results the first time - overall. However, I did have problems with elevated triglycerides and had to watch my cholesteral intake (which had to be done anyway). The second time I took it I discontinued use of an anti-depressant during my treatment. This was the wrong thing to do as I become greatly depressed and unable to function at 100%. My advice would be to use Accutane with health (mental and physical) checkups on a regular (monthly) basis as perscribed by the physician. This medication does not lend itself to self-medication and poor eating and healthy living habits.
