I must agree that Accutane works very well to clear up severe cases of acne. But I just wanted to give everyone a "heads up" on a possible side effect that I experienced.

Since taking Accutane, I no long break out everywhere constantly like before (face, neck, chest, back), but when I do get a blemish, I scar. The areas on my face that were normal became very dry and my facial skin has lost its elasticity. Consequently, I am not aging near as well as my mother and grandmother. (My mother's skin has better elasticity than I and she is 72 years old!)

Just be careful and monitor your skin carefully during the time you are on the medication. I had noticed the extreme drying occurring around my mouth and upper cheeks at the time, but my dermatologist ignored my concerns. I truly feel that if he had lessened my dosage when my skin began showing signs of stress, I would have more elasticity and less scarring.
