Skin Care Review: Herbagreenpeel Resurfacing Exfoliant Powder

by Marcy Bennett

Rating
Good

Benefits
Heals & prevents new acne, smoother skin, less oily, effects last several days.

Drawbacks
Seaweed smell, leaves skin pink, sensitive, dries out skin, have to mix with liquids.

Details

I have extremely sensitive skin and react to many preservatives in products. I was interested in Herbagreenpeel Resurfacing Exfoliant because it has no chemicals, acids or preservatives. It is a greenish brown seaweed powder that you mix with liquids to make a paste and apply like a scrub. I mixed it with Cetaphil and scrubbed my skin for a few minutes and allowed it to dry for about 10 minutes. I didn't experience any tingling until I rinsed the product off. After, I felt mild tingling and a prickly sensation like a nettle feeling, and my skin was flushed and somewhat sensitive. The sensation lasted for a few hours but was not too noticeable.

My skin felt immediately smoother, softer and the bumps were less evident. I would compare the feeling to a Microdermabrasion treatment. By the next day, there was a definite improvement in the blemishes and texture of my skin. I have low grade acne and the Herbagreenpeel seems to help control it for about a week. I use it weekly, but feel that if I use it more often, my skin becomes too dry.

I would like to try using the Herbagreenpeel as a peel, but do not want to experience visible flaking and shedding of the skin. So far, using it as a scrub seems to be working quite well. Oh, I did experiment and tried mixing it with my glycolic wash and it felt like fiberglass was being rubbed into my skin. Luckily, it didn't aggravate my skin or cause any problems.

Conclusions
Great for oily acne skin, leaves skin glowing, smooth, can dry skin out.
