Skin Care Review: Neutrogena Healthy Skin

by Estela Morett, Guadalajara, Mexico

Rating
Good

Benefits
SPF 15, improves skin tone, fragrance-free, good base for make-up

Drawbacks
A bit pricey, but I think worth the price, especially when it goes on sale.

Details
Although I like this product and will continue to use it, it took much longer for me to see the improvement of my skin as described on the package, and my results were not as significant as some of the other’s reviewers of this product. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream is a dermatologist recommended, retinol facial treatment with vitamins (pro-vitamin B5 and vitamin E) that claims to visibly reduce fine lines & wrinkles; firm, soften & smooth the skin; reduce the appearance of pores; and reduce the appearance of age spots.

This fairly thick cream (with a barely noticeable scent) is to be applied to clean skin before moisturizer is applied. The package states that some improvement in the skin will be noticed after two weeks of regular use, noticeable improvement after four weeks of use, and drastic improvement seen after about eight weeks of use. I personally noticed that after the first four weeks of use, my skin was smoother and the small wrinkles around my eyes and my skin tone remained unchanged even after eight weeks. I wasn’t disappointed though, because this was just one of many products that didn’t “visibly reduce my fine lines and wrinkles.” I have continued using this product for at least four months now, and I can now see a slight reduction in my wrinkles–OK, they are only fine lines now, so I’m just trying to avoid letting them become wrinkles. So, I guess persistence has paid off with this product.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream is not inexpensive for a discount/drugstore brand. I can usually find it for $10 or $11 for a 1.4 oz. tube at Wal-Mart, That may seem quite pricey for such a small amount, but I have found that it lasts me a long time. I use a pretty good amount this product twice per day, and I am only about one-fourth through my second tube in four months. That comes to a little over $3.5 per month. For that amount of money, I would say this is a great product. For me, it took MUCH longer that what the package claimed to see results.

Conclusions
I recommend Neutrogena Healthy Skin for an overal facial treatment
