Skin Care Review: Roc Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream

Excellent Customer Service!

Drawbacks
After several day's use, experienced extreme burning, redness and puffiness.

Details
I am 40 years old with fair, mixed type skin. After reading an online article by a key dermatologist, I realized that I was fairly behind the ball in using an anti aging product. The article recommended using a retinol based product and emphasized that while prescription creams would be optimal, that there were good ones to be purchased over the counter. I decided to try out Roc Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream as well as their Deep Wrinkle Daily Moisturizer. I tried both products for 2 days and 2 nights. At first I was pleased with the feel of the products (though I wondered about the richness/oiliness of the Daily Moisturizer and whether it would make my skin break out). I experienced slight tingling, but this was consistent with the product description. On the morning of the third day of use, I awoke with extreme redness and puffiness as well as some dry skin just around my eyes and on my upper cheeks. Worst of all, I was experiencing a severe burning sensation when I applied anything to those areas of my skin. I was alarmed, but confused about whether my skin was going through a normal adjustment or if I was overly sensitive to these products. I decided to call the toll free tel. number found on the product boxes. The consultant took down some information and concluded with advising me to cease using the products immediately. Since this was my first time using any retinol based creams, he assumed that my skin's reaction was a sign that I am sensitive to them and suggested that I work with a dermatologist who would either recommend a different anti aging ingredient or perhaps put me on a regimen where my skin would be introduced to the retinol slowly in order to avoid this type of adverse reaction. The Roc consultant immediately offered to send me a refund check for the products I had purchased! I was pleasantly surprised by this because it hadn't been my objective in calling. Always remember to hold on to the original boxes of any new products you are trying, especially if you paid quite a lot for them. I was so glad that I had done so when I was asked for the barcodes and Lot #'s for my products.

Conclusions
Not good for everyone! Don't return to place of purchase, but call customer service.
