Skin Care Review: Restylane

by Marty, NJ USA

Rating
Excellent

Benefits
Excellent long lasting line filler, lasts longer than collagen

Drawbacks
Price, pain

Details
I am in my mid-50's & was disturbed by my 'laugh lines' and lines around my lips. Also, with age, my lips are getting thinner. I saw a brochure with before & afters at a plastic surgeon's office & asked if I would get results as pictured. I first tried collagen injections, which gave excellent results, but only lasted about 6 months. When Restylane was finally available, I went right for it. The doctor gave me an injection (a little painful) which numbed the middle of my face right up to the top of my nose, so the injections on upper lip area & in laughlines were painless. Unfortunately, the numbing didn't apply to the deep creases at the corners of my mouth or my lower lipline. It was painful, but definitely worth it. I was red for a few hours after the procedure, which takes about 1/2 hour, and had small marks from the needle that went away within a few days. Lines were filled in very well, and it has lasted for over a year. I'm getting ready to go back. I will definitely continue to do this until something better comes along. I can usually pass for 10 years younger than my age. I could probably get this done less expensively, but if someone's going to stick needles in my face, I prefer to have it done by an excellent plastic surgeon. By the way, Estee Lauder Perfectionist Correcting Concentrate for Lip Lines is a good temporary wrinkle filler for that area, although I haven't seen any long-term results from use, as promised.

Conclusions
A quick & sure line fixer. Why pay and wait for creams that may not work?

Price (paid by reviewer)
$600
