Skin Care Review: Restylane

by Amy, dearborn, MI, United States

Rating
Excellent

Benefits
immediate results

Drawbacks
somewhat painful, some swealing and bruising for a few days

Details
I'm in my late 30s, and recently lost alot of weight which left me with a few laugh lines that had been previouisly filled in naturally. My cousin told me about restylane, and it looked like a good idea. I went to my Derm and had it done in his office. Normally it takes 2 1ML injections, but i only went with one for the time being, due to the cost factor- it's $480 per 1 ML. It took about an hour to complete, was a little painful despite having a topical numbing cream, and an injectable pain block. I had some swealing and bruising for about a week afterwards, and it took a few days for the injection sites to fade. Ice packs helped and I'm very, very fair skinned. So far it looks good. My doctor told me to wait a few weeks after the initial procedure to see if I need to have any more. Also, drink plent of water, as Restylane thrives on water. Avoid caffeine to prolong the effects even more.

My advice is have this done in a doctor's office. Do not go to a drive thru cosmetic spa/clinic. My derm told me most places will dilute the injections; which is not harmful, but you wont get real results forcing you to keep returning for repeat touch ups. At almost $500 a pop, you can see why it's lucrative for places to do that.

Conclusions
Happy with results, would recommend it.
