Skin Care Review: Allergan Prevage

by Nadine Macauley, New York, NY U.S.A.

Rating
Satisfactory

Benefits
The product is not irritating to the skin and is made by a reputable company.

Drawbacks
Lacks creamy consistency. Results in having to use too much to cover entire face.

Details
Allergan has introduced Prevage. They claim it has a "revolutionary" anitoxidant - idebenone. Antioxidants are known to protect cells from environmental damage, improve the appearance of fine lines, reduce dryness and smooth the texture of skin.

I heard about this product on my local news channel, bought it on-line and tried it to smooth out my skin texture. I've tried everything to smooth out the texture of my skin (discoloration) without success. I am 42 but I don't have many wrinkles so I figured, if this costly product could smooth out the texture of my skin while also acting as a preventive measure to keeping my fine lines at bay, I'd continue to use it, if it worked successfully for my skin discolaration problem.

After using the product for one month, I did not see any significant improvement in my skin texture. The discoloration remains and as I have acne break out monthly, the acne scars continue to discolor my skin. This product, therefore, does not work for me. It may help in reducing the appearance of fine lines but I'd have to use it for an extended amount of time and I don't think the costly price of the product makes it attractive for me to continue to use if it does not help in in reducing my primary problem--discoloration.

Conclusions
Does not signiicanly smooth texture of face.
