Skin Care Review: Biore Pore Perfect

by Michelle Feldman, Dallas, TX, USA

Rating
Good

Benefits
The best results are scar reduction, lightening of hyperpigmentation, and smoothing.

Drawbacks
The product is less effective for reduction of fine lines and pores.

Details
I found Pore Perfect best in softening a couple of scars on my temples, left from Mohs surgery for basal-cell cancers. The scars are hypo-pigmented and sunken below the surface of the rest of my skin. I've never been able to cover them well with makeup; now they're much less obvious. When I finally get them injected with a dermal filler, to make the skin smoother, I might not need as much filler and be able to save money.

Pore Perfect has also lightened the hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and forehead from sun damage, and made the skin on my face much smoother. Several friends have noted the improvement, after only three weeks of using the scrub.

I find this interesting, because I was unimpressed with the results of a series of microdermabrasion treatments seven years ago.

I use the scrub much more aggressively than recommended in the directions printed on the tube. If I followed directions and scrubbed for one to two minutes per session, two to three times per week, I'd have to wait two to three months to get the effects of one 30-minute microdermabrasion treatment--in short, it would take me a calendar year to get the effects of four treatments!

So with that in mind, I've gradually increased the time I spend scrubbing until I can tolerate ten minutes per session. Three of these per week equals one 30-minute polishing session--a standard microdermabrasion treatment.

Using the cream on my fingertips is no more invasive than using an applicator and suction wand that comes with a home microdermabrasion kit.

I've noticed some pore reduction, not much--that will probably take an AHA product to get much in the way of results. And the reduction in fine lines/wrinkles bas been pretty negligible but a couple of months of using this product might make a real difference

I understand that the folks at Biore wouldn't necessarily endorse my recommendations but this has certainly worked well for me.

Conclusions
Use aggressively to lighten spots and soften scars.
