Skin Care Review: Origins Night-a-Mins Mineral-Enriched Eye Cream

by Lizzy, NJ, US

Rating
Adverse Effects

Benefits
I thought I was going blind

Drawbacks
Intense burning and irritation required medical attention

Details
I'm 35 years old and have been using undereye creams religiously since I turned 20. I had never experienced any problems at all with any of a dozen or so brands I've tried in that time, until I decided to give Origins Night-A-Mins a try.

After just one night of use this product left my eyes so irritated, horribly red and in pain, that I had no choice but to head to the emergency room at 2 in the morning. Once I started to feel the slight burning and drying sensation and experiencing blurriness, no amount of flushing with saline solution would help me feel better. As the night wore on I could neither keep my eyes closed nor open, I was so uncomfortable. When I started to think that I might go blind, I finally had to call for someone to drive me to the hospital, where my eyes had to be flushed for thirty minutes -- really uncomfortable procedure, in case you're wondering! Even that would not help the pain the irritation right away, as whatever Origins puts in this product evidently had a caustic effect on my eyes. The ER doc had to send me home with pain-killing drops and a prescription for codeine, so I could finally get some rest.

Needless to say, this is the worst experience I've ever had with a cosmetic. Origins can keep their fancy "serenity is the key" ads and their cutesy-pooh names. All I want is that when I buy a product from a manufacturer to put around my eye area, that I don't end up having to go to the hospital -- a costly trip, as you can imagine!

Please please stay away from this cream. Do you really want to risk the hassle, the pain and the potentially serious side effects? I will never buy Origins products in my life again.

Conclusions
Dangerous product. Please think hard before purchasing.
