Skin Care Review: Source Naturals Skin Eternal DMAE Serum

by chris brown

Rating
Excellent

Benefits
Longlasting and deep-penetrating moisture and apparent reduction in fine lines

Drawbacks
A little bit oily, so this is one to use only minimally under makeup. I

Details
I'd read a lot about the benefits to the skin of DMAE, Vitamin C-Ester, and ALA in the Perricone books, but find his products formidibly expensive (and I'm not one to skrimp on skincare costs). So when I saw the Source natural serum version I was intrigued, but unsure because this bottle was so comparatively inexpensive that I didn't know whether the quality would be comparable. After using it for a few weeks though, I have to say that overall i do think my skin grets significant benefits from this comination serum, more so than the Perricone versions and the also-somewhat pricey Janson Beckett brand. 1st the active ingredients are listed toward the front of the ingredient list (versus near the middle or end), so I know it's pretty concentrated at a fraction of the cost of the Prestige brands. It's pretty oily, so this isn't a great choice for daytime unless you use a very small amount. Applying too much also seemed to cause a little burning / inflammation, which is bad. So take it easy on the amount you use. (And DON'T get it in, directly above, or otherwise too close to your eyes. If the product seeps into your eyes, it burns like crazy). Having said all those negative comments, used in moderate amounts, I really felt like I saw a visible improvement in my hydration level - which is key in the desert climate I live in. Fine lines seemed to improve and the elasticity seemed significantly improved. Having tried every product and supplement on the planet, this is saying something. I'm still looking for the fountain of youth, but I do believe that ALA, DMAE and the vitamin-c ester has scientific backup (even in the skin rejuvenation infopak on this site), so this brand is worth the $18 investment to see if it works for you.

Conclusions
I like this product, I've tried more expensive brands, but nothing more effective.
