Skin Care Review: Hydroquinone

by Lary West, Las Vegas, NV USA

Rating
Excellent

Benefits
Hydroquinone softened wrinkles, and reduced the visibility of sun spots.

Drawbacks
Hydroquinone causes the skin to become red, irritated and sensitive.

Details
In preparation for job interviews, I included rejuvenating the condition of my facial skin to give myself a fresh, youthful appearance. Several of the estheticians I interviewed tried to sell me “the full boat” which included oxygenation, microdermabrasion, glycolic peel etc. etc. The total cost of treatment for most of these procedures was almost $1000. Feeling there had to be a less expensive alternative, I went to one last clinic hoping to hear a different story (and price). I ended up at Allure Skin Care in San Diego where they told me all I needed was a few glycolic peels and a 2 month regimen of Hydroquinone cream at night before I went to bed. Long story short, the combination of the peels and 2 months of using the Hydroquinone every night worked great. My sun spotting was reduced to a level I hadn’t seen in 10 or 15 years. It also softened the wrinkles on my forehead. It did however make some of the scars on my face a little more pronounced (from 20 years of extreme sports). I highly recommend Hydroquinone for the reduction of sun spotting but I would recommend buying it from a qualified esthetician who can explain the application and effects.

Conclusions
Very effective for reducing sun spots and hyper melanin concentrations on the face.
