I did three sessions of IPL photofacial. The middle one was a "photodynamic facial" - photosensitizing agent levulan added. The results after my first session were the most dramatic - some dark freckles I had had for a long time actually peeled off.

I had high hopes for the levulan-boosted treatment but I didn't really see any results, in fact, some of my freckles darkened! The doctor admitted later that he probably could have zapped me harder; he was afraid go to strongly on my first Levulan treatment.

For my next treatment I chose to have a normal IPL photofacial and again saw lightening of my spots.

Conclusions
I would recommend this treatment to people who have splotchy pigmentation.
