My sister thoughtfully purchased a small-size of Clinique's 3-step skin care system for me that was meant to be suitable for very dry skin, which I have. The first 'step' in the system is the facial soap. I know you shouldn't ordinarily use soap on your skin, but I trusted this soap would be different and went ahead and used it. Well, after using the soap followed by the clarifying lotion ('Step 2') I felt as though I had sucked out every bit of moisture my skin had ever had. The moisturiser - whilst, admittedly, fairly pleasant to apply insofar as it is non-greasy - was too light and did little to replace all the moisture I had lost. I won't be using this system again. Maybe the moisturiser by itself would be good for someone young with less dry skin who only wants/needs a light cream.

Conclusions
Moisturiser okay by itself if you only need light moisturising
