Skin Care Review: La Mer

by Julie, Chico, CA USA

Rating
Satisfactory

Benefits
Soft skin; didn't promote blemishes; little product required

Drawbacks
ridiculously expensive

Details
I have combination skin with an oily T zone and large pores. I'm 33 and fit with a good diet and my skin isn't noticeably affected by hormones. I'm constantly searching for the miracle creams etc we keep hearing about and being disappointed when I try them.

I tried a large part of the La Mer range - the Creme, the eye cream, the toner, the serum, the body lotion, the refinisher facial and was not overly impressed by any. The Creme was best as my skin was soft and very little product required, but every time I used it I felt like I was using cold creme in an expensive jar! The serum was yucky and smelly and appeared to dry my skin out. The refinisher was OK but effects minimal and temporary - same as any old face scrub. Eye cream did nothing bar moisturize and the body lotion was so thick it was very difficult to use and I ended up using it as hand cream.

Overall not impressed but am still psycologically "impressed" by price tags so am considering the La Prairie line, although the review for that aren't overly impressive either!

Having oily skin was not a problem with such a rich product as so little is used and the Creme is very readily absorbed, but this really doesn't make up for the high price.

Conclusions
Don't waste your money - try the Creme if you must, but don't buy the rest of the range.
