Skin Care Review: Desert Essence Age Reversal Pomegranate Face Serum

by Anonymous

Rating
Excellent

Benefits
Moisturizes and calms without any irritation or acne.

Drawbacks
I'm not convinced the botanicals stay active or work for "anti-aging."

Details
I've used 0.1 percent tretinoin for 15 years. During that time, I've tried countless moisturizers and few have worked to stop the peeling or itching until I tried Keys Soap "Tortuga." While that is great, it can for some reason cause my skin to redden or itch, primarily, I think , because of the retinol in the formulation. Nevertheless, it helps. This Desert Essence face serum, however, I tried on a whim because it's so cheap and honestly, I'm utterly hooked. It acts like an anti-inflammatory as far as I'm concerned. It just about wipes out all of the irritation from the tretinoin. My skin isn't dry at the end of the day and flaking. Or too badly when I wake up (as I put it on over the tretinoin at night). In the winter months I'll apply the Keys' Soap Tortuga over the serum, that that pretty much does the job. It doesn't cause any acne for me either, and I use the Retin-A primarily for that, not anti-aging. Oh, my eyes tear constantly, particularly in the wind, and that causes the skin in the corners to crack -- I can apply this directly under my eyes, or onto the cracked skin and it doesn't hurt or sting or aggravate it. Again it calms it. It doesn't entirely heal the cracks, it's a serum, not a cream, but it's still pretty fantastic.

Conclusions
It's one of the few products I'd ever recommend ... EVER.
